Do Cannes Like a Celeb: Where to Eat, Drink, and Mingle
As per usual, there’s no shortage of star power at this year’s Cannes International Film Festival, with A-listers like Salma Hayek, Nicole Kidman, and Tommy Lee Jones among the attendees. But where do the stars hang out when they’re not on the red carpet? We did some digging to find out where celebs relax and mingle during their trips to the Croisette.
Hotel du Cap-Eden Roc
This spot, which celebrates its 100th anniversary this year, has been a go-to for Hollywood’s biggest names for centuries. During the first weekend of Cannes, it played host to Vanity Fair and Giorgio Armani’s star-studded film festival bash, which drew the likes of Naomi Watts, Jennifer Lawrence, and Justin Bieber.
Grand Hyatt Cannes Hotel Martinez
Situated at the heart of the action on the Croisette, Hotel Martinez is an institution. During the festival, it’s nearly impossible for anyone who doesn’t regularly appear in the pages of gossip mags to get inside. But those who do have access to a private beach, as well as the famous La Palme d’Or restaurant, recipient of two Michelin stars.
InterContinental Carlton Cannes
This hotel is so beloved by Hollywood’s A-list that some of its suites are named for celebrities, including Grace Kelly, Cary Grant, and Sharon Stone. This year, the Nikki Beach La Plage pop-up restaurant and nightclub will likely be the hotel’s most star-studded hangout.
Bungalow 8 Cannes Pop-Up
Where Amy Sacco goes, the stars follow. Over the weekend, the New York nightlife impresario hosted a Bungalow 8 pop-up club, in partnership with the Weinstein Company and Worldview Entertainment, and drew everyone from Rosario Dawson and Adrian Grenier to James McAvoy and Wesley Snipes.
Once the screenings are done, the Cannes crew ditches their gowns and tuxes and heads to this nightclub within the Palm Beach Casino. This year, rapper A$AP Rocky performed live at the venue, while Busta Rhymes hosted a star-studded birthday bash (okay, the guest list included Paris Hilton, but still).
This Cannes institution usually plays host to many movie after-parties during the festival. This year was no different: America Ferrara, Jay Baruchel, and Jeffrey Katzenberg held court at Baoli Beach, the hotel’s private waterside space, for a party celebrating How To Train Your Dragon 2 after the film’s premiere.
Club Costes by Albane
This nightclub is situated atop the J.W. Marriott—which is also hosting an exhibit of vintage travel posters—and offers plenty of people-watching opportunities. So far, its biggest shindig this year was a party sponsored by Belvedere and featuring a performance by Rita Ora.
