Around 700 holiday flights cancelled due to volcanic eruption
Bali and Lombok airports have been closed due to volcanic ash spewing from a volcano on one of the Indonesian islands.
Authorities said Ngurah Rai airport in Bali, one of the busiest in Indonesia, will not reopen until Thursday morning, at the earliest.
They said they would reopen the airports after a re-evaluation of the situation.
The closure has led to the cancellation of almost 700 flights.
Mount Rinjani on Lombok island has been erupting since last weekend.
“Tremors due to volcanic activities are continuously recorded and potential of more eruption is still high,” the meteorological agency said in a statement.
